10 Day Quest Dare #3 – What Do You Worry Will Stop You

In our latest dare, we delve into the profound inquiry: what apprehensions might inhibit your aspirations? As we navigate the intricacies of entrepreneurial vision, we confront the inevitable resistance that arises when one dares to dream expansively.

Our engaging dialogue emphasizes the significance of illuminating our fears, whether they be internal doubts or external obstacles, as a means to unveil the truths buried within our psyche.

We playfully explore the notion that the path to breakthrough is not a linear trajectory of joy and celebration, but rather a tumultuous journey filled with frustrations and learning experiences akin to learning to ride a bicycle.

We invite you to join us in this exhilarating exploration of self-discovery, where articulating your worries may very well be the catalyst for transforming them into opportunities for growth and success.

Speaker A:

Hey, Daredoer, back again.

Speaker A:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

Amazing.

Speaker A:

Love seeing the vision that you have for the world, using your company as the vehicle and the engine to create such magnificent growth and human experience for people everywhere.

Speaker B:

It is so great to be back with you today.

Speaker B:

Talking about vision always gets me so excited, and hearing where everybody's coming from and what you're wanting to create just lights my heart.

Speaker B:

I. I'm so excited to continue on the journey.

Speaker B:

This next step is so important because every time we bring out a wish, we're immediately met with all the resistance.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Have you ever done that where you.

Speaker B:

You declare something and then you wake up in the morning, you're like.

Speaker B:

You feel shrunken because you're like, oh, my God, I can't really do that.

Speaker B:

It's too much.

Speaker B:

It's too big, too Whatever.

Speaker B:

And so this question today is, what do you worry will stop you?

Speaker B:

What will stop you from creating this vision?

Speaker B:

What will stop you from having breakthrough?

Speaker B:

What is going to stop you with your company growing in the ways you wish this year?

Speaker B:

And so this can come in the form of lots of different factors.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

It could be internal things, it could be external things.

Speaker B:

It could be, nobody wants to buy my things, or I don't have the right people, I don't have the right team, I don't have the right technology.

Speaker B:

So what we want to do is we want to flush all of these out because it's helping us reveal the truth of what lives inside our heads and minds and spirits.

Speaker B:

And there's quite a great power in setting those up in front of us so that we can move beyond them.

Speaker B:

And sometimes it's just as simple as looking at it and saying, well, that's silly.

Speaker B:

And sometimes it's like, okay, that's valid.

Speaker B:

It needs to be part of my plan to help move through that thing.

Speaker B:

It will help you.

Speaker B:

Because what I love doing with entrepreneurs, with founders, I have a group of founders who've recently joined my founder circle, and they've put together their plan all at once.

Speaker B:

We do this exercise, we put together everything all at one time.

Speaker B:

And what it springs forth right away are some of the questions that are unanswered.

Speaker B:

The places where they don't know.

Speaker B:

And that is exactly the place where we can focus attention.

Speaker B:

Remember, we talked about breakthrough being this thing where you need to have focus attention and action.

Speaker B:

But what we don't always know is where specifically to place that focused attention and action.

Speaker B:

So we think about what's stopping us.

Speaker B:

When we think about what's worrying us, we flush it out.

Speaker B:

Here's the super secret sauce about breakthrough.

Speaker B:

You do not need to solve for every problem all at once.

Speaker B:

The key is choose one thing at a time.

Speaker B:

And know that when you transform one worry, one problem, one constriction at a time, that's what leads to breakthrough.

Speaker B:

I invite you to think about this.

Speaker B:

Think about your company.

Speaker B:

Whatever the status of it is, you've got whatever revenue, whatever customers, whatever systems, whatever technology is in place, you have all that right now, right?

Speaker B:

And there are probably things in there you wish was different, right?

Speaker B:

There are probably places you wish your product was different or your conversions were better, or your CRM was better, or this or that connected better.

Speaker B:

Or maybe you have an MVP that you're hoping to launch, but somehow, even though you don't have perfect systems and perfect everything, you're still creating goodness.

Speaker B:

You're still having revenue, you're still having product, you're still having something that's already on your treadmill.

Speaker B:

It's safe to declare what you're worried about, it's okay.

Speaker B:

And you do not need to deal with all of it at once.

Speaker B:

And probably most of it, you don't have to deal with ever.

Speaker B:

It's just good to let it out.

Speaker A:

This is so good.

Speaker A:

Coco and I love that we're including this as part of the quest because I. I think a lot of people don't realize that this can plague a lot of people.

Speaker A:

The things that we worry about, knowing that we're not alone.

Speaker A:

I remember one time I was in a CEO group and there was this guy in there that really successful, his business is doing extraordinarily well.

Speaker A:

And one time he got up and he said he felt like an unsophisticated CEO and he didn't have an MBA and he felt like he didn't know all the things.

Speaker A:

And I remember that was the moment I was like, wait, what?

Speaker B:

What?

Speaker A:

I never would have imagined it.

Speaker A:

And the fact that he said that it made me feel more secure in my role because I didn't know it happened to other people too.

Speaker A:

When we're able to declare what we're worried about and what stops us, like, this is the juice right here.

Speaker A:

When we can get it out of our head, you might even be solving your own problem as you're saying it out loud.

Speaker A:

For me, it's funny, I'm right in the middle of this big, huge thing with the billion dollar impact marketplace.

Speaker A:

The marketplace doesn't exist yet.

Speaker A:

Technically, I'm still doing these auctions that will lead into the marketplace.

Speaker A:

But what do I worry will stop me is like, I'm worried about customer service.

Speaker A:

I'm worried about having to deliver all the stuff.

Speaker A:

I'm worried about all the things that I don't even know, that I don't know yet.

Speaker A:

And there's a part of me that goes back to the staffing company where I'm like, oh, my gosh, it's going to be like that again.

Speaker A:

I'm not going to have my life, all these old patterns.

Speaker A:

And my point of saying this is, this is normal for us to have this big vision and then for us to go through all the things that are going to be wrong with it because it is safer to not do the big thing.

Speaker A:

It is so much safer to stay in our own little bubble.

Speaker A:

But the beauty that can come when we get through this piece.

Speaker A:

We know how powerful it could be.

Speaker A:

This is where the breakthrough year really can come from.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

I love what you're talking about here.

Speaker B:

It reminds me, in my book A Force for Good, there's a section towards the end where we talk about breakthroughs.

Speaker B:

We talk about 12, one breakthrough.

Speaker B:

We talk about, like, cycles of breakthrough.

Speaker B:

And what is really important to bring into our consciousness is the way that breakthrough feels.

Speaker B:

It's not the way you think.

Speaker B:

It is not all roses and joy.

Speaker B:

It is not all celebrations along the way.

Speaker B:

Actually, what happens with Breakthrough is we first figure out where our worries are, where our constraints are.

Speaker B:

We see something that needs to be increased, improved, or accelerated.

Speaker B:

In the Force for Good system, we talk about places of acceleration and places of constraint at all times.

Speaker B:

We're looking for the number one accelerator and the number one constraint.

Speaker B:

The constraint is that number one worry.

Speaker B:

It's that number one worry.

Speaker B:

And when you deal with it, you can create breakthrough.

Speaker B:

And that process of discovering that something is wrong is not.

Speaker B:

Does not feel good, Right?

Speaker B:

When you discover something is wrong, that usually makes you feel not good about yourself.

Speaker B:

Maybe you feel insecure or disappointed.

Speaker B:

Sometimes you even blame people.

Speaker B:

That's a normal thing to do, right?

Speaker B:

Oh, it's so and so's fault because they're not doing a good job at xyz, right?

Speaker B:

So that's the first step of experiencing breakthrough.

Speaker B:

You have this worry and discovery that something is wrong.

Speaker B:

Then you go about trying to discover the solution, right?

Speaker B:

That part is where you go through these cycles of doing something new.

Speaker B:

And doing something new doesn't always feel good either.

Speaker B:

It's like the first time you get on a bicycle, right?

Speaker B:

Remember when you were a kid and you got on the bicycle and you were upset because Joe could already ride and you couldn't and you were feeling frustrated.

Speaker B:

You probably fell a few times, right?

Speaker B:

That's what happens next in breakthrough.

Speaker B:

You try stuff, it doesn't work.

Speaker B:

You fall and you think you're doing it wrong, but you're not.

Speaker B:

You're just learning.

Speaker B:

Then you get to this place where you're starting to make progress and things are working, but now you're sort of bored with doing this thing over and over again to get to the results, right?

Speaker B:

And then finally you get to the result and you feel happy.

Speaker B:

But what you tell yourself is that breakthrough feels like breakthrough in the end.

Speaker B:

But breakthrough actually feels frustrating.

Speaker B:

It feels hard and mistake driven and like something's wrong.

Speaker B:

And then it can be boring.

Speaker B:

And then finally you can celebrate.

Speaker B:

This question about what are you worried about?

Speaker B:

Is about helping you embrace and love those places where you're uncomfortable, where you're feeling worry and constraint.

Speaker B:

And my systems aren't working and this is broken and this person isn't doing their job so that you can organize your thoughts and say, okay, this is evidence of breakthrough.

Speaker B:

This is what it looks like.

Speaker B:

This is how it feels so good.

Speaker A:

And you might notice yourself even saying, oh, I'm not good at this or this.

Speaker A:

Feel free to let yourself just flow with whatever comes out on this dare, because it's getting it out, right?

Speaker A:

We're getting it out of our system so that we can have our breakthrough year.

Speaker A:

And this is a big piece of the breakthrough going through this dare.

Speaker A:

So the dare is I dare you.

Speaker A:

What do you worry will stop you?

Speaker A:

Do the thing.

Speaker A:

Don't wait for opportunity.

Speaker A:

Create it.

Speaker A:

Design your breakthrough year.
